2006 Gallery and Museum Achievement Awards

The 2006 Gallery and Museum Achievement Awards were presented by Museum & Gallery Services Queensland at an Awards ceremony on 20 October, hosted by the Queensland Museum.

The Minister for Education and Training and Minister for the Arts, Hon. Rod Welford, made the presentations.

The winners in all categories were:

Organisations: Staff of 7 or more
Winner — Queensland Museum, South Bank for Dandiiri Maiwar Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures Centre
Special Commendation — The Workshops Rail Museum, Ipswich, for 60th Anniversary of VP Day Celebrations

Organisations: Staff of 1–6
Winner — Bundaberg Arts Centre for Fully Sick!!! Youth Public Art Project

Organisations: Volunteer
Winner — Cherbourg Historical Precinct Group for The Ration Shed Museum and Precinct
Special Commendation — Central Queensland Military and Artifact Museum Association, Rockhampton, for Outreach Trailer Project

The 2006 Gallery and Museum Achievement Awards were generously sponsored by:

Queensland Teachers’ Credit Union: Provided $1,000 cash prizes for the winners of three categories, Organisations: Staff of 1 to 6; Organisations: Volunteer Run; and QTCU Educational Initiative, and sponsored travel costs for all winner and special commendation recipients to attend the Awards ceremony.
Brian Tucker Accountant: Sponsored the commissioning of the GAMAA trophies.
Brandi Exhibitions: Provided goods and services to the value of $1,000 for the winners of the category, Individual: Paid
Zetta Florence: Provided $500 worth of conservation materials for the winner of the category, Individual: Volunteer
