| 2005 Gallery and Museum Achievement Awards |
Museum & Gallery Services Queensland proudly announced the winners of the 2005 Gallery and Museum Achievement Awards at an Awards ceremony on 21 October, hosted by the Queensland Art Gallery.
Presentations were made by the Chief Executive Officer of the Collections Council of Australia, Margaret Birtley.
The winners in all categories were:
Organisations: Staff of 7 or more Winner — The Workshops Rail Museum, Ipswich for its Friends of Thomas event Special Commendation — Perc Tucker Regional Gallery, Townsville for its Urban Stories, Indigenous Youth film project
Organisations: Staff of 1–6 Winner — Logan Art Gallery for its exhibition project The Spirit Colour, working with Iraqi refugee artist Hamza Sultan
Organisations: Volunteer Run Winner — Mulgrave Settlers Museum, Gordonvale for its museum program of social history, including the Beacons of Faith exhibition Special Commendation — Winton District Historical Society and Museum for its publication, Vision Splendid: A History of the Winton District, Western Queensland
Individuals: Paid Winner — Audrey Hoffmann, Warwick Art Gallery
Individuals: Volunteer Winner — Patricia O'Connor, Yugambeh Museum, Beenleigh Special Commendation — Mary Low, Cairns and District Chinese Association
QTCU Educational Initiative Winner — Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery for its Space Invaders: Crates on Wheels travelling schools’ exhibition project Special Commendation — Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology, Caboolture for its Archaeological Dig Project
