State Library of Queensland Heritage Collections Event for Museum and Gallery Staff

The staff of Heritage Collections, State Library of Queensland, extend a special invitation to Museum and Gallery staff to visit the State Library and learn about the various collections and services available through the John Oxley Library, Queensland’s premier library for material documenting the history and development of the State, and the nationally significant Australian Library of Art. You will have the opportunity to learn about current collecting priorities and activities in the coming 12 months, as well as meet with key staff who can assist you with research and other enquiries.

You will also have the opportunity to:

Enjoy a special ‘White Gloves’ presentation of a selection of significant items from the John Oxley Library and the Australian Library of Art
Meet staff who will discuss State Library’s loans policy and procedure for external exhibitions, and who can assist you with your applications
Hear about State Library’s Oral History and Digital Stories Program
Learn about the full-text keyword searchable newspapers that are now available online
Learn how to access SLQ full-text keyword searchable subject databases from offsite
Peruse some recent acquisitions and collection highlights
Learn how to search the catalogue to find our rich resources
Meet the winners of Museum & Gallery Services Queensland's Gallery & Museum Achievement Awards (to be announced 30 October 2008)

The agenda will be broken into two parts:
Morning 9.30am-12.00pm John Oxley Library Services and collections
Lunch 12.00pm-2.00pm (Lunch available in various locations in the cultural centre precinct)
Afternoon 2.00pm-4.00pm Australian Library of Art services and collections
