| Collection Management & Preventive Conservation Skills Development Workshops 2009 |
In 2009 M&GSQ, with the support of a Community Heritage Grant, will present a Two Day Skill Development Workshop in Collection Management & Preventive Conservation in three centres of Western Queensland: Longreach, Cunnamulla and Mt Isa. All organisations with collections in these centres and surrounding areas are invited to attend.
Please note change of date to Mt Isa workshop, due to weather conditions in northern Queensland. Original date 28 Feb-1 Mar. New date 5-6 Sept.

| Collection Management Whole Day Workshop will cover: | |
• Collection Policies – writing and implementation • How to assess Significance of objects in the collection • Collection management procedures - collection register, ownership issues, accepting donations, deed of gift forms, object information form, de-accessioning • Collection Documentation - catalogue sheets and object files • Cataloguing an object practice
Resource and Reference Materials (Folder and CD) will be supplied to each participant including references on Significance, collection management and care, templates for: a Collection Policy, Collection Register, Gift Agreement, Loan Form, Cataloguing Sheet, Condition Report.

| Preventive Conservation Whole Day Workshop will cover: | |
• Principles of preventive conservation • Causes and Symptoms of damage/deterioration • OH&S, disaster planning • Integrated Pest Management practice • Spectrum of solutions including storage and display materials and acceptable methods of care
Resource and Reference Materials (Folder and CD) will be supplied to each participant including references on preservation plans, preservation needs assessments, collection care and disaster planning. A preventive conservation materials and paraloid labelling kit will be left with each of the three areas.

Registration Fee: $35 per person (includes 2 day workshop, lunch, morning & afternoon teas and all workshop resources)
