It was used until 1978 until sold to Redcliffe PCYC and then sold onto to an antique dealer. It is one of the only complete merry-go-rounds in a museum collection in the state and possibly in the country and one of the few items reminiscent of the recreation and leisure history of the Redcliffe Peninsula. The merry-go-round was bought by Moreton Bay Regional Council for the Redcliffe Museum collection in 2008 for $30,000.
